백설기
Snow white is here. Not the princess, but it’s 백설기 (baekseolgi), or snow white rice cake. It’s
powdered rice mixed water, sifted, and steamed in a siru (earthenware steamer) without any dressing powder. Due to its white color, believed to symbolize innocence and purity, baekseolgi is traditionally prepared to celebrate a baby’s 100th day or first birthday. Pretty, right?
